SOMA IV
YOGA & MOVEMENT RETREAT
A rare opportunity to experience four master teachers in an intimate and luxury setting. A deep and transformational four-day retreat offering a blend of yoga, free-form movement, breathwork and meditation with Simon Borg-Oliver, Rodrigo B. Perez, Waangenga Blanco and Mimi Elashiry.
Soma has created a truly revolutionary retreat that will introduce you to methods and practices to support your body, mind, consciousness and your journey towards health and wholeness.
The body is one of the greatest gifts. With correct knowledge and practice it can remain eternally youthful. Furthermore ancient cultures understood the body has the capacity to be as vehicle for bliss. Practices have evolved across the ages to awaken the experience within.
We are bringing together 4 masters of yoga and movement so they can inspire and revolutionise your understanding of your neurophysiology and the art of movement.
Simon Borg Olivia is one of the most revered yoga teachers and movement teachers in the world. Having studied and taught traditional forms of posture, movement, breathing, yoga and mind development for over 50 years he is no doubt a true master in the field. Simon has worked as a research-based scientist, an exercise-based physiotherapist and a university lecturer. He is also the co-founder of Yoga Synergy. Trained by masters in Tibet, Japan, India and China, he synthesises traditional and ancient movement modalities with western medical science into a unique approach designed to build strength and flexibility, enhance circulation and regulate the parasympathetic nervous system. As part of the Soma Yoga & Movement retreat, Simon will lead workshops to teach safe, accessible and effective ways of developing a personal movement practice for longevity and wellbeing.
Mimi Elashiry will take you to a journey deep within–into the cells and structures of the body, and deeper still, into the feelings, blockages and experiences it stores. Her Embodied Movement workshops will challenge your definition of ‘dance’ for the better, releasing your body from the rigid mainstream dance paradigm so you can learn to express yourself freely through the essential art of movement.
Waangenga Blanco is a highly creative teacher with a wealth of experience in various forms of movement. He was a key performer with the Bangarra Dance Theatre for over 13 years. Indigenous culture consider every moment as sacred and alive and movement as a special means to access deeper dimensions within ourselves. Waangenga will be teaching unique ways for you to deepen your everyday movement and moments. This is a rare opportunity to learn from someone who has dedicated his life to movement and its transformative power.
Rodrigo's Holistica movement method has helped many of his students improve the way they move, become aware of their body, improve nutrition, their training and ultimately become more durable and achieve optimal longevity.
He works with multiple modalities to achieve better breathing and mind focusing techniques, as well as better mobility.
A combination of yoga, movement, hands-on adjustments, lectures, breathing and meditation will create a multi-dimensional experience from within, as well as provide a deeper understanding of the subtle effects of yoga and movement on the body, mind and consciousness. The teachers work together to create a space for guests to connect with the wisdom of their own bodies, release old patterns and transform their experience of life. It’s an opportunity to move beyond the limits of your mind and access the wisdom of your heart.
